FILMMAKER, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
"Never fall in love with a shot," were words my father first uttered to me when I was in high school, working on my first videos for the school's broadcasting class. My father, a film maker since the 1960s, wanted me to understand that while a shot may look beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, I should never forget that its only purpose is to help the story–if it doesn't help the story, it shouldn't be used. Years later, I am reminded of my father's words every time I'm out in the field or producing a project, and am glad to say that his words of wisdom have gotten me this far.
I am very passionate in the film and television production industry and have been working professionally in it since 2005. I come from a film and TV production family based in the San Francisco Bay Area and have worked my way up to becoming a Producer at Comcast NBCUniversal, producing a program called GAME ON, an all-female sports show spotlighting subjects related to females in sport. At Comcast NBCUniversal, I also produce industrial videos for many of the Corporation's regions across the country.
I am also a Producer and Director for BCT Institute for Media Production, focusing on producing socio-educationals in various areas concerning the community, including matters about healthcare and homelessness.
In the past I've been an Associate Producer for Open Eye Pictures, specializing in the production of documentaries concerning social issues. I've also freelanced for many clients as a producer, director, camera operator, sound recordist, grip, and as a gaffer. Some of the clients I have freelanced for include eBay, Discovery Channel, Robert Mondavi, Charles Schwab, Playboy, and many others. Aside from the production aspect of a project, I also do freelance editing for clients using Adobe Premier Pro as my go-to editing software (although I've also used Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer) and After Effects.
I am also a passionate film photographer, focusing–no pun intended–on landscapes, nature, cities, and details of inanimate objects. I currently mentor with First Exposures, a non-profit, youth mentoring program in San Francisco that strives to teach under-served youth the basics of photography.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in TV Broadcasting and Video Production from San Francisco State University.
